I've previously toyed with the idea of offering commissioned stock where  artist pay me for specific poses they need in a more urgent timeline than my suggestions list.  I've done one paid shoot for a client who contacted me directly and it was a great experience.  I would love to  continue to offer paid stock for people who need specific poses in a more timely manner so I'm creating this journal to outline some requirements and guidelines for how my commissioned stock works.

STOCK COMMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.  I will post a new journal when they open.

Price
Commissioned  stock is $5 USD per photo. I will also accept DA Points at 400 :points: per photo.  Buyers would be required to be purchasing a minimum of 10 photos (that's $50 USD or 4000 :points:).

Process
The  client contacts me for a shoot request with a list of poses required.  I review the list and make sure I can do them. We agree on a date for the shoot based on my schedule. A 50% deposit for the total number of requested images is due at least three (3) days before the shoot day via  Money Order or PayPal.  The shoot takes place on the agreed upon date.   Low-res, watermarked proofs are sent to the client for approval within  24 hours.  Once the proofs are approved, client sends final 50% payment  within one (1) week, or seven (7) days.  When payment has cleared, I  deliver the hi-res final stock photos are delivered to the client  electronically.

Currently I can only offer ONE FEMALE MODEL for these commissions as I am my own regularly available model.  If I plan in advance to have another model available, I will post a special about it.

Collective Client Shoot
Collective Client Shoot will occur when I have open spaces for commissions but more than one client to fill them. There will be a minimum number of available slots (typically 10).  Individual clients will be able to book any number of slots and the shoot will take place once all the slots are all full.  Each client will be responsible for their own portion of the stock shoot payment up front. Everyone will be sent their own hi-res final stock photos electronically.

Client Terms of Use for Paid Stock
Paid stock has the same rules as any images from SenshiStock: you are allowed to share, copy, distribute, transmit, remix, and adapt the stock as you need it.  You are allowed commercial use of the stock.  You are required to credit SenshiStock.deviantart.com when the stock is used in photo manipulations and when it is shared in its raw format in other locations on or offline. As always, public credit is appreciated but not required when the stock is used solely as pose reference.

SenshiStock's Use for Paid Stock
I retain the rights to the images produced in paid stock.   I also reserve the right to used paid stock in future SenshiStock book and e-book publications as well as to repackage and resell the paid sock from my DeviantART account and SenshiStock.com as a exclusive package unless we agree upon not doing so before the shoot takes place. I may ask for an additional fee for stock that you do not want resold.

Cancellation Policy
Deposits are non-refundable unless I am unable to complete the shoot on the agreed upon day, or if I am unable to complete a certain pose due to other unforeseeable circumstances (illness, injury, etc.).  If I am unable to complete the shoot on the agreed upon date I will contact the client to try and reschedule.  If a rescheduled date cannot be agreed upon with both parties then a refund of the deposit will be issued.  Clients who do not contact me about their final payment within one (1) week, or seven (7) days, of receiving their proofs will still be entitled to 50% of their images which will be selected at my discretion after they make the full, final payment. In cases where there is an odd number of images the number of images sent will be rounded down to the closet whole image.  Should the client wish to purchase the remaining images at a later date they will have to pay an additional $1 late fee per image.  There will be no refunds issued once the final hi-res images have been sent to the client.

Thanks you guys! :squee:

I think it's very clear, and professionally written. I don't see any obvious problems with it, and I like the idea of also doing the collective client shoot.

How cool is SenshiStock? As cool as a dinosaur wearing a top hat :giggle:

The prices seem quite fair. Would group photos be the same rate?

Yes, other than the aforementioned inability to guarantee additional models :D

Looking forward to this!

I still need to purchase your last pose book.

Will definitely have to think of a collection of poses to purchase once my finances stabilize from Christmas shopping.

i love this idea!
another alternative to people who dont need 10 poses could be that maybe once per month you do a "commission shoot day" where anyone can request as little as 1 pose.
That way you can do work for multiple clients in one day, and the client can get just one image, it could be a win win
Just an idea, I know i would utilize it a lot if I could do one at a time option like that. I don't have other artist friends that utilize stock like this, so the group thing isnt an option for me.

Yep! I was definitely considering something like that. Maybe that's better to have in the information since people grouping a head of time might be unrealistic

That is a great idea! I bet you'll get commissions from artists who need very specific pose references for drawing collections. Artists out there, this is a great idea because you can have a good, consistent reference. For those seeking to sell prints of their work, this is a good investment.

Everything I would have to say for this has already been said.

I also suggest that you retain the rights to put the commissioned images into another stock book.

I really like what you have here but I do have a few questions and comments. Lol as if I didn’t ask enough earlier

1)I know a lot of people would really like to have poses of romantic pairs and/or multiple people in a shot, one suggestion for that is to post when you do have a secondary model available and for how long. And it would make sense if the photos with multiple people to cost more because you are taking up someone else s time. Another way might be to collect a number of pair requests that you can justify doing a pair shoot when you have a model. But these are just suggestions.

2)one question that stands is if I ask for 15 different poses are you only going to send me 15 proofs to approve of or am I going to be able to select from a group of proofs the 15 that I want? and what if i don't like the way a pose came out, are you going to re-due that pose?

3)So if I request the standard 10 poses and 3 of them are couple shots, would you refuse the whole thing or would you send me the 3 couple shots when you have a second model?

Hope I haven’t irritated you and everything seems pretty strait forward for the most part.

Yeah I'd really have to plan to do something special for pair or group stock. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it. xD At this time I would not accept any commissions for couple shots since I cannot guarantee a model. ;( However, there are some couple shots I might be able to do with me as both models (depends on the pose of course).

Question #2 is a very good question. I think since people are paying for the stock I am probably going to be open to making corrections if I have grossly misunderstood the pose they needed. However, typically the buyer would get proofs of all the poses they asked for without extras.

Thanks for the feedback! :D

This sounds like a wonderful idea.

Would you be considering doing shoots with two models? I am most interested in poses for pairs and romantic pairs. Would you charge more for those if you did them?

It would be a lot harder for me to commit to that since I don't have any regular secondary models but I suppose it could be a possibility.

The 10-photo min. at first sounded irritating, but thinking about it from your standpoint it makes plenty of sense. It's all certainly very clear, and I can't really think of anything you'd need to add.

This reminds me of something. My avatar used some of your stock as a reference and I forgot to link you. >.> Here- [link]

yeah I know the min is kind of annoying but I've got to make it worth all the effort to set up. I am considering doing group shoots where I say "Hey there's 20 slots, claim the ones you want" and filling up a shoot that way too though :D
